Born in Minsk, Belarus, Elena started Rhythmic Gymnastics
at age six, and is a Master of Sports of the USSR. At 15, she switched from
gymnastics to circus arts, and joined the renowned Circus College in Kiev,
Ukraine, where Alexei Sarach, head of a legendary Russian perch act, spotted
her. And so she toured the world with the Sarach Troupe for six fulfilling
years - and secretly dreamed of having, one day, her own act.
During an engagement in Germany, Elena started working on an aerial contortion
act with some help from fellow performers. Her amazing flexibility, her natural
elegance and her consummate artistry were combined in a unique aerial hoop
act that caught the attention of the show's producer, Tatiana Asovskaya. Asovskaya
(who is now the Director of Moscow's Bolshoi Circus) arranged for Elena to
compete at Paris' Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, one of the world's
two most important circus festivals, in front of a gathering of circus agents,
directors and specialists from all over the world. In a contest that gathered
25 of the most exciting new acts from Europe and Russia, China, Australia,
and North and South America, Elena was awarded the coveted Bronze Medal, and
started a brilliant international career as one of the world's finest aerialists.
(She also received top awards at the Circus Princezen Festival in Stockholm,
and the International Circus Festival of the Netherlands.)
Elena's stunning aerial act has been seen in the world's best circuses and
variety theaters, and on television, and it is considered by circus specialists
around the world as the very best in its genre. When Paris' Festival Mondial
du Cirque de Demain celebrated its 20th anniversary, Elena was one of the
few unforgettable acts invited to perform in a star-studded gala at Paris'
legendary Cirque d'Hiver. Today, her amazing and beautiful aerial act remains
unequaled.
